£1500 settlement for 16 year old girl following an whiplash accident in a taxi.
What’s My Claim Worth personal injury claims department successfully settled a claim for a 16 year old girl who was involved in a road traffic accident while in a taxi. As she was under the age of 18 a member of her family acted as a guardian to deal with the claim on her behalf, known as a Litigation Friend.
Miss T was a rear seat passenger in a taxi with two members of her family travelling along a main road when another vehicle failed to stop at a junction and pulled out of a side road and collided with the nearside of their vehicle.
Miss T instructed What’s My Claim Worth to pursue a personal injury claim on her behalf. Within 3 weeks of submitting the claim, liability was admitted a medical report was obtained which confirmed that she had suffered neck pain, tenderness to her head from banging it on the window of the vehicle, right hip pain and shock. The expert confirmed that the pain to her hip had lasted 2 weeks and the tenderness to her head had lasted 3 weeks. He also anticipated that the client would make a full recovery from her neck pain within 4 months of the date of the accident.
As Miss T was only 16 at the time of the road traffic accident, we waited until she had made a full recovery prior to attempting settlement of her claim. The Litigation Friend confirmed that the client had made a full recovery in line with the medical report which was the third party insurers requesting offers in settlement of her claim. We received an offer to settle the personal injury claim in the sum of £1500.00 which was accepted.
As Miss T was a ‘minor’ (under 18) the settlement had to be approved by the court. Following the hearing the damages are held in the Court Investment Fund until the Miss T turns 18 at which age it will then be released to them. Therefore if you have an accident in a taxi then we can help to pursue a claim and get the compensation you deserve, it does not matter if the crash in a taxi was the driver’s fault or the other motorist.
