Miss G from London was injured due to faulty shoes purchased from a well known online retailer.
Our client was working as a fundraiser at the time of her accident and whilst walking on the pavement she fell to the ground due to the sole breaking away from her shoe. This caused her to stumble and fall to the floor hitting her face on the pavement and her head hit a concrete post.
She had a black eye, laceration to her head with scarring, soft tissue injury to her elbow and the most significant injury was her knee. She attended hospital due to her injuries and had scans.

We agreed to deal with the claim and a claim was submitted to the online retailer on the basis that the shoes were defective, they had sold her shoes that were not fit for purpose and were not of satisfactory quality.
The claim was initially submitted to the online retailer as the supplier of the shoes. We were then advised of the manufacturer details and the claim was submitted to them.
Liability was eventually admitted and we proceeded to obtain our client’s medical records and arrange for her to be seen by a Specialist Knee Orthopaedic Surgeon. Unfortunately for our client, her injury was much worse than anticipated and she sustained a complex peripheral tear of the medial meniscus which might need surgery and she may also develop knee osteoarthritis during her lifetime.
Due to limitation expiring the solicitor dealing with the claim issued at court to protect the claim and after numerous scans and medical evidence, the claim proceeded towards settlement. Our client’s financial losses were calculated and after negotiations with the Defendant’s Solicitors her claim settled for £28,000. Our client was extremely happy with the outcome!
