Common ELBOW injurIES

As the elbow joint is one of the most active joints in the body, a fracture can take a significant amount of time to recover. A smaller fracture will have a shorter recovery time, with a more significant fracture in some circumstances taking several months to heal.

Bursitis is a condition affecting the small, fluid-filled sacs called bursae. Bursae cushion the bones, tendons and muscles near your joint, such as the elbow.

Bursitis occurs when the bursae sacs become inflamed, causing severe pain and discomfort. In some cases, the sacs need to be drained by way of a medical procedure, which can require surgery.

Tennis elbow is a condition that causes pain around the outside of the elbow, and usually occurs following strenuous overuse of the tendons and muscles of the forearm, located next to the elbow joint. As the name suggests, this injury can commonly be associated with playing tennis.

This condition is also seen in professions such as plasterers, painters and decorators, and those working on factory productions lines and in these cases, it may be possible to claim compensation.
