Claim Settled After Slipping On A Wet Supermarket Floor

What’s My Claim Worth have settled a claim for a 54 year old man from Kent who sustained cuts to his finger when he slipped on a wet floor in Morrison’s supermarket.  He was walking along the pet food aisle when he slipped on a large patch of clear liquid falling to the ground and injuring his finger.   There was no wet floor sign or yellow cone displayed to warn our client of the potential danger.  Our client reported the accident to the Duty Manager and first aid was given at the store. He also attended Darent Valley Hospital in Kent for treatment.

A claim for compensation was brought against the supermarket under Section 2 of the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 but they denied responsibility and tried to argue they had a reasonable system of inspecting the floor and for clearing up any spillages.

What’s My Claim Worth arranged for our client to be examined by an Specialist Independent Doctor who prepared a Medical Report on the injuries.

Due to the stance the supermarket had taken regarding liability (responsibility) for the accident court proceedings were necessary to progress the claim further and fortunately following the issuing of proceedings the supermarket agreed to settle the claim and our client was awarded the sum of £2,260.00.
