Production Operative Awarded £8,000

Kathryn Bull from our Injury Department dealt with a claim on behalf of a client injured at work. He was employed by the Defendant as a production operative and was fetching stock from the storeroom. Unbeknown to him, strapping had been left on the floor, as a result of which his right foot caught in it, and he tripped and fell heavily to the floor, onto his right-hand side. He fractured a bone in his right, dominant wrist, right elbow, and right hip.  He was taken by ambulance to hospital where a CT scan of his wrist found a fracture.

Liability was admitted and we proceeded to arrange for our client to be examined by an Orthopaedic Surgeon. A fracture was confirmed to the right triquetrum bone, the possibility of ulna nerve compression syndrome on the right wrist, together with soft tissue injury to the right elbow and right hip joint.

The Expert recommended an MRI scan of the right wrist to consider the possibility of injury to the TFCC (triangular fibro cartilage complex) together with nerve conduction studies before the Expert could provide a final prognosis as to long term recovery. As part of the claim process, we arranged for our client to undergo further investigations on a private basis as recommended by the Expert. Fortunately, test results were normal, and our client eventually made a full recovery from the injuries caused by the accident.

Settlement of the claim was reached with the Insurers of £8000 for our client’s pain, suffering and loss of amenity, together with travel expenses, MRI scan and nerve conduction studies.
