Settlement For Slip In A Petrol Station

Settlement of Miss W’s claim was reached in the sum of £12,500 for her injuries and financial losses.

What’s My Claim Worth were contacted by Miss W after she slipped on the forecourt of a petrol station whilst filling her car with fuel. Kathryn Bull of our personal injury team was instructed to deal with the claim on her behalf.  Miss W almost did the splits as she fell sustaining injury to her left hip and groin, together with banging her elbow on her car.

As the Defendants were occupiers of the petrol station, Miss W was a lawful visitor to the premises and the claim was submitted to the Defendant’s Insurers. Liability was admitted immediately upon presentation of the claim. Miss W unfortunately suffered from fibromyalgia; spondylitis leading to back and leg pain, together with degenerative disc disease and she had a long-standing history of anxiety and disorders requiring the care of a psychiatrist so it was necessary to obtain medical reports from an Orthopaedic Surgeon with knowledge of fibromyalgia. One of the main symptoms of fibromyalgia is widespread pain, and the pain is likely to be felt throughout the body and worse in particular areas.
