We have represented a client who was involved in a high-speed road traffic accident crash which was later featured on a Police Camera Action type television programme, given its terrifying nature.
Our client won £160,000 in compensation – click the Claimometer button to start your claim today…
Our client was a seat-belted passenger in a car being driven by his friend coming home from work when the car veered from the road, hitting a central barrier before it bounced off and was catapulted into the air only to return on two wheels. The car then smashed through wood and debris before eventually coming to rest. Our client’s claim was brought against the driver of the vehicle and his insurers were responsible for paying damages to our client.
Amongst the many injuries our client suffered, he had a broken wrist requiring a number of operations, scarring to the arm, an injury to the ear resulting in some minor hearing loss and possibly more damaging than all of these, serious psychological injuries which caused nightmares, flashbacks and depression. Our client was unfortunately unable to return to work for many years following the accident due to a combination of physical and psychological injuries.
Private Treatment in the form of surgery was arranged thanks to interim payments provided by the Defendants upon our request. Our client also benefitted for the psychological counselling known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which was arranged via his solicitors. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy which can assist in the management of many accident related problems by changing the way clients’ think and behave. It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems. The therapy assisted our client to the extent that, although the accident would never be forgotten, it did help arm our client with the tools and strategies he needed to help him get back to a normal life.
The Claimant’s life had been literally turned upside down by the accident and following a round table meeting that took place between all the parties, our client was awarded £160,000 in compensation.
